Jon Stewart to Host the Academy Awards. We all knew Chris Rock wouldn't be back. He was offered the job but turned it down. And one of Oscar's most popular hosts, Billy Crystal, also said no to returning for the 78th Academy Awards. Today, after months of speculation, the Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences made it official: "The Daily Show" host Jon Stewart will serve as ringleader at the March 5th star-studded event. [
